Surfing Colorado

Big Sur

The "Big Sur" means surfing in Colorado. It's a rare phenomenon (last time it happened was 2011) that creates waves big enough to surf on the Colorado River. Check out a pretty neat video here.

Unlike the ocean, where the waves move, the waves on the river stay in one place. That makes it more challenging, according to river surfer Brittany Parker.  “It just feels fast, and it feels powerful. You've got to definitely make sure that you've got all the right gear.  You just want to have a good knowledge of the river because it's definitely a force to be reckoned with,” said Parker.
