Hugh Jackman helping out in Bondi Beach rip drama
Some great footage of Wolverine star Hugh Jackman helping out caught on local TV station
Check out the video on Channel 9's website. It's actually quite interesting, in a "peak into another persons life" kind of way. Just another day at Bondi Beach really, with an international movie star thrown in for good measure.
I have to say I like Hugh Jackman. He seems to be a genuinely nice guy, which the TV coverage pretty much supports. He simply reaches out and helps when he sees somebody in need. In this case, a man clutching a young girl, possibly his daughter, being dragged along one of Bondi's nasty little inshore rips. He then goes and helps his own son who appeared to be having some issues as well.
Hugh was back in Sydney after finishing an international promotional tour for his new film Eddie the Eagle, a sports biopic based on the real life of Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, played by Taron Egerton. Eddie was a British skier who was the first to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping in 1988. The movie also stars a bunch of other quirky actors such as Christopher Walken and Tim McInnerny. The trailer can be seen here, and looks, considering the subject matter, to be unexpectedly funny.

Today's events tend to suggest Huge and family, are now Bondi Beach locals. A surmise supported by a number of local media reports that they have bought a stunning, multi-million dollar, apartment overlooking the beach.
As a global star he seems pretty balanced. Mind you, it's hard for me to really know this, as I'm not exactly best buddies, or anything even remotely close. He once jumped into a cab that I was getting out of in Melbourne a few years ago. I was not sure what to say, so I kind of just nodded and walked off. Bit stupid but hey, it was a call, as 1, I was off to a meeting, and 2, it would be highly unlikely he'd remember a snotty nosed junior from high school. Yep, way back in the day we were at the same school. He was not in my year but from what I saw, and by all other accounts he was a pretty decent guy. Clearly then and now.
