Joel Parkinson flips off Kelly Slater

With hate in his eyes

You would think a final with seasoned veterans like Kelly Slater and Joel Parkinson could be civil. Well apparently not.

The story goes that there were 3 minutes left in the final round of The Quicksilver Pro, Parkinson was down and needed a near perfect ten to beat Slater. He waited and finally got the wave he was looking for, the one pictured above. Slater though, had the advantage and was able to take the wave if he wanted. Seeing Parkinson take the wave he wanted and knowing the time - he did just that. You can see him there, just paddling like a jerk. As you can guess, Parkinson didn't appreciate the move.

Personally, I like it. I like that Parkinson showed emotion. Look at is this way, if you are Slater wouldn't you rather win on your own merit and your own surfing? Debate amongst yourself.
