A close encounter

A Great White, a paddel board and a GoPro....

Mike Durand heard that there were two Great Whites off Manhattan Beach, El Porto. So he grabbed his paddle board and a camera and headed out.

And yes he found them. Indeed one even bumped into his paddle board. And while it wasn't  the biggest shark in the world, it would still give me the willies if I was in the same position. And, going by the audio, it scared the shit out of him as well.

He reportedly said "I like to surf good-sized waves and do things that scare me a little bit. It makes me feel alive, so when I saw the shark, I was like, 'Aww, there it is. That's the footage I've wanted to get. I will pursue this shark a little bit.’ I didn't know he would pursue me."

The sharks were juveniles and measured about 1.2 meters to 2.2 meters long.
